Game 4 – Prelude
The tip of the spear – The Sons of Horus- led combined elements of the shadow crusade in a flank attack against the White Scars.
The Keshig were without their mounts and rarely out manoeuvred as the land speeders and javelins of the Warmaster pushed and held ground in a bitter struggle which saw the White Scars ultimately cede the territory.
After their victory against the Ultramarines in their last battle, the Huntmaster – Gudel of the 8th Legion consolidated his position at the outer forge complex when the Salamanders and Raven Guard eventually caught up with them after the Solar Auxilia Insurrection. Attacking on the flank, the loyalist armour was able to move around the protective positions and overrun the traitor defences.
With the flanks pivoting around them due to traitor and loyalist victories, the focal point of the sector fell upon the civitas district. Brutal building to building fighting erupted with the Ultramarines making an aggressive central push and seizing the centre, however, the Night Lords stalked through the ruins, using the darkness to their advantage to fall upon the sons of Ultramar and grind their assault to a standstill.
Unable to destroy enough of the traitors, the loyalists fell back to defend the final sector.
Campaign Progress
| Battle 4 resulted in a 2-1 victory for the traitors which takes cycle 1 to a 2-2 tie. The balance for the sector will be decided at the final battle.
